My name is Miranda, and I was born and raised in Arizona. I am married to the love of my life, Austin. He gets me like no one else on this planet, and I am so thankful to have him in my life. Our relationship had a bit of an unconventional start when we became teenage parents after only dating for a short while. It was a rocky road for us, but we've made it through and have a great life! We got married about a year after the birth of our second child.
We have two beautiful children who are my shining stars and my reason for existing. Jacob was born December 3, 2008, and Madison graced us with her arrival on December 14, 2011. Currently, I am lucky enough to be able to stay home with my children while Austin provides for us. We are both full time students, and I do my coursework online when I can. I am studying to receive a BA in Speech-Language Sciences and Technology and I plan to get my Master's for Speech and Language Pathology. My dream is to work as an SLP in a school or as a community based therapist to help children with communication disorders.
Outside of school and my children, I enjoy reading. I don't get to do it as much as I'd like (for fun anyway), but I always try to squeeze a book or two in on school holidays. I appreciate music, although I do not need it every day. I occasionally dabble in various creative ventures such as scrapbooking, painting, and poetry, but I am novice at best in those areas. I also enjoy spending time outdoors when the weather permits, particularly swimming.
Every fiber of my being is invested in loving and caring for my children, and raising them the best way possible. I believe that it is very important to be educated in my parenting, and strive every day to learn ways to become a better mother. I am very open about my choices for my children, and love to discuss them as long as the discussion is respectful. Many of my parenting choices are not 100% in line with the norm in our society, but I have never been one to make a decision based on the "everyone else is doing it" attitude. Parenting is a very difficult job, and there is no one-size-fits-all solution. I firmly believe in the mother's instinct, and mine has never failed me. Therefore, I do my best to respect the choices of others as long as they are not putting children in harm's way. Occasionally, I'll post about controversial topics in my blog when I feel I have something important to say. I invite others to share their thoughts as well!
I do my very best to be open-minded, but I will be the first to tell you that I am not perfect. My goal is to be non-judgmental, but I am human and sometimes it happens anyway. I consider myself educated, but acknowledge the fact that I am ignorant in many, many things. My goal is simple: Learn as much as I can, and give my children a happy childhood that sets them up for success in all areas of life. I believe blogging is a great way to organize one's thoughts, share insight, and also learn from others, and that is all I hope to gain from my blog at this point!
Thank you for reading, I hope you Enjoy!
Miranda
